Al-Ma'un

أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
أَرَءَيۡتَHave you seen
ٱلَّذِىthe one who
يُكَذِّبُdenies
بِٱلدِّينِthe Judgment?
Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Which was revealed in Makkah

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

﴿ أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ • فَذَٲلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ • وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ • فَوَيۡلٌ۬ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ • ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِہِمۡ سَاهُونَ • ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ • وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ ﴾

(1. Have you seen him who denies Ad-Din) (2. That is he who repulses the orphan,) (3. And urges not the feeding of Al-Miskin.) (4. So, woe unto those performers of Salah,) (5. Those who with their Salah are Sahun.) (6. Those who do good deeds only to be seen,) (7. And withhold Al-Ma`un.)

فَذَٲلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
For that is the one who drives away the orphan
فَذَٲلِكَThen that
ٱلَّذِى(is) the one who
يَدُعُّrepulses
ٱلۡيَتِيمَthe orphan,

Which was revealed in Makkah

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
وَلَاAnd (does) not
يَحُضُّfeel the urge
عَلَىٰto
طَعَامِfeed
ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِthe poor.

Which was revealed in Makkah

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾

فَوَيۡلٌ۬ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ
So woe to those who pray
فَوَيۡلٌ۬So woe
لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَto those who pray,

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِہِمۡ سَاهُونَ
[But] who are heedless of their prayer –
ٱلَّذِينَThose who
هُمۡ[they]
عَنof
صَلَاتِہِمۡtheir prayers
سَاهُونَ(are) neglectful,

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ
Those who make show [of their deeds]
ٱلَّذِينَThose who
هُمۡ[they]
يُرَآءُونَmake show.

Which was revealed in Makkah

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾

وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ
And withhold [simple] assistance.
وَيَمۡنَعُونَAnd they deny
ٱلۡمَاعُونَ[the] small kindness.

﴿ بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ﴾
